Euan's accident happening in front of me has to be the scariest thing that I've seen whilst racing. It's true when people say things like that happen in slow motion as it seemed to go on forever.
I enjoyed myself in the ST if a little cautious as it was borrowed. Probably wasn't carrying anything like good speed round any corners. It was good to have a wee dice with Stuart in race 2 but due to the dodgy weather I had wets on back (as did most ST's to be fair) and about 3 laps from the end they went off and the car felt really weird so just brought her home safely.

Going to put your video online? Even though you just see the very start of Wilson going over it's still pretty dramatic!

Glad that Euan made it out of the car and without injury. When I arrived at the scene I thought he was still in the car so was really relived when I saw him walking to the ambulance. Just proves how strong the cars we have are nowadays. Also special mention must goto the marshells for not only dealing with the situaution in a professional amnner but for then notifiying his brother stuart on his condition when we were stopped for the red flag. Enjoyed the racing yesterday even though I was lucky to actually race after I went and lost my original scrutineering ticket! Quick plea at the sign on desk and I amanged to get a spare one Had 2 mega races right at the front and still dont know where the pace came from. Got 6th in race 1 after a poor start on the restart but managed to take advantage of wayne's mistake out of the chicane and then one hmself, antonhy and darryl came together I had a nice easy run to the flag. As for race 2, got lucky with the red flag after I spun at the chicane and then with Steven P not being able to make the retstart. Was having a nice dice with Anthony and then we caught up Hamish who must of been struggling with the damage from race 1. I managed to get pass him into duffis but unfortuanatley him and Anthony collided at the hairpin, would of been an intresting finish otherwise but 5th place was mega. Congrats to all the title winners and a big thanks to the marshles, Knockhill, SMRC and also ICR for all thier help and hospitality for this year.

Great to back out in a car! I'm still incredibly slow but I still love it. Great scrap in the second race with Al Wood who drove an impeccable race. Rookie's cross was wasted on his car. Great awareness of flags and impeccable track manners - a star in born?
Massive shout out to SMRC President Allan McNish who was personable and professional throughout the day. He also demonstrated a sharp wit when calling out Gerard McCosh's name and race number at the Legends Ball Draw.
Thanks to all the dudes and dudettes in orange. I did stop to pick up a flag on my run down lap (don't tell the stewards) which displayed the words, "Thank you marshalls!" but I'm not sure that the words were visible! Your sterling efforts are greatly appreciated. Shout out to newbie Claire Murray who fannied about at Duffus and Mad Richard Smith who plankied the flag at McIntyres - great banter guys!
Well done to all the race winners throughout the year especially former team mate Rory Bryant who switched to front wheel drive and took to it like a Dundonian to a Giro!
To Aly Hunter, Andrew "Sweetieman" Donald and Stevie Coull, many thanks for preparing excellent cars which myself, Mike Hogg and Racemania have enjoyed - again!
Jings what a lot of nice words, I cannae be well....

Thanks for the kind words, Oversteer!
I saw you with the flag and did manage to read it as you passed us on the back straight whilst retrieving Alastair Gauld's car from the tyrewall. (Suspension failure, honest... )
Thanks for that, the rapport we have with the Legends guys is great and we look forward to seeing you all back next year!
Depending on how many of your cars we bend at the Marshalls' Fun Day!! ;-))

Well done to all the race winners throughout the year especially former team mate Rory Bryant who switched to front wheel drive and took to it like a peado to schoolkids! What a line....classic. That should be put on his CV. ;D Of course thanks to the marshals too. Honestly don't know how you guys can stand around for hours exposed. (to the elements that is, not that hobby I've heard some of you have). Nice luxury of electric windows in the ST let me get my arm out to give you all wave. Mike - yeh I'll upload some videos tonight hopefully.

Great last round for everybody in fford with the usual close racing yet no contact. Agree with previous posts re thanking marshals for their sterling efforts throughout the year. Shame about "oversteer's" comments ref schoolkids??? As an MSA license holder you should know there is a section on dignity and respect for minors but also as a human being. Shame on you!

well what a day yesterday was, i was actually 1st marshal on scene at the ST roll and thank god Euan was okay, didnt see it happening as i was looking at cars on the apex of mcintyres, heard the crash and started running, yelling gies a red flag to my observer. Was glad to see the rescue crew there so fast.
Thanks to all you drivers for keeping us entertained all year and giving us plenty of work to do, keeps us warm all that running on cold days :-) the biggest thing is the amount of respect you drivers show us, that means a hell of a lot to me
massive thanks to all the fellow marshals I have worked with, a great team doesnt come close, when the shit starts flying the teamwork kicks in
enjoy the close season folks

Hello! Well it's over for another year. First off, many thanks from him in Pink to everyone in Orange, those at Knockhill and SMRC, everyone who helped me out during the season (you know who you all are) everyone who said 'hello' at some point, those who donated to TCT or helped with some fund raising, those who supported my club's track nights, to all the wee boys who passed by and exclaimed "that's a girls car", and to all who in some way supported Scottish racing. A big special thanks to my sponsors who supported me this year, McLarens, Clyde Homes, V8 Motor Company (man I could have used one of those engines, Willie Greig never once asked to see how many cylinders I had), Powdertec, Shimla Pinks, and SignforIt. So the final fling started with a rubbish qualifying session and the continuing mystery of "why does the pink panther not purr perfectly?". Race 1 was fine for a few laps, battling away with James Cunnigham, till the unfortunate accident of Euan's and the red flag. On race 1 restart I made up the place on James having got the run on him through the chicane...though admittedly I maybe should have attempted to turn the corner a little more than I did as the centre of my bonnet bears the mark of a floppy...they don't have make a fair thump as you hit them ;D Started making inroads into the Anthony Leese/Daryl Ford battle, Wayne went off up ahead and rejoined right next to the pair of them and suddenly I was right on the tail of the three of them. Coming out the hairpin Leese seemed to chop over in front of Ford, turning himself around the bow of Ford's car, and sending Ford spearing off to the left and straight into my drivers door as I was innocently sneaking past the battling trio. (This may seem very accusatory, I have watched my in car video several times and this is how it was). Fortunately managed to restart the car and crossed the line 13th. Blair, I didn't need electric windows to wave to the nice marshals since my drivers window was mostly in my lap by now. I had some new experiences at lunch time as I learned how to use a porta power to unbend metal, how to use a hammer to unbend metal, how to use yourself to unbend metal, and how to make an XR2 bodykit out of tank tape Note of thanks to Steven Emslie for helping out with the unbending! Race two got off to a flying start and promptly came to a halt again as everyone up the front seemed to go for the same square inch of tarmac at McIntyre's at the same time. Again, I have watched the in car video and, well, I haven't the foggiest what happened There were so many cars pointing in so many different directions it looked like someone had just lost at XR2 Jenga In my avoidance of the incident, and avoiding the back of Charlie Thornton's immaculate XR2 on it's first outing (complete with new car smell), Fraser Shaw didn't quite see that I'd slowed so much to avoid the melee and reshaped the arse end of my car. Back on the grid, and after a few concerned looks from some scrutineers no-one shoved me off so I assumed I was OK to restart. By this point I was pretty fed up and after two laps nearly couldn't be bothered with it all, but my interest was rekindled when I caught up Russell Turner and we had a nice clean race trading nothing other than a glance as I passed him, and then again as he repassed me taking advantage of a passing ST. Bugger. Still, 9th, and with Finlay being caught up in the first lap stramash I retained 7th in the championship...it would have been very close otherwise! Pretty good season all in despite constant engine woes, and I'm not going to let the damage sustained get me down, I did enjoy my racing most of the time Jinx of the year has to be by John and Russell Turner, who remarked on Saturday how good my car looked (don't worry, we were laughing about it later). Will I be back next season, perhaps in a race car, perhaps just with some spanners, we'll see. Will I see anyone at a dinner dance...perhaps not, I'm told that when you become a father you don't get a heck of a lot of sleep, so I'm making no plans that don't involve my bed ;D Congratulations to Ian and Jay for their XR2 championship wins, and all the other championship winners. All the best! Baz

Hi everyone, It's ages since I posted on here but since it's the end of the season I thought I'd say hello and thanks for another great year at Knockers!! I was on recovery on Sunday so thanks to John for letting me sit in his shiny new Discovery and keep warm - oh, and occasionally jump out and hook the towrope to a car to take back to the paddock (also cheers to post 10 for having the paddock brae gates open for us!). Thanks also to Race Control for putting up with me - my radio messages were possibly a bit rubbish but it was the first time I'd used it and was acutely aware of how many people could hear me!! We were parked at the entrance to the rallycross when the ST rolled at Leslie's and saw the driver crawling out the window almost immediately (minus crash helmet, strangely) - glad he's ok Thanks to all the drivers for giving us marshals some great racing to watch during the season and for giving us a wee wave at the end of each session too - we do appreciate that! See some of you at the fun day next month, no doubt Take care, Lisa
