Hi guys. Just been told the date of this years Awards Dinner at the Sheraton Edinburgh. For those of you who have never been to this event, well you have missed out it is really quite entertaining even if you are not picking up a Trophy. As fully paid up members of the SMRC surely we should have a say on how certain things are done. Ive been thinking why don't we get the Dr. Robert Johnston and the Rev Duncan Vincent to compare the evening !!!!!!! WHY THE HELL NOT, THOSE GUYS TO A FANTASTIC JOB AT OUR RACE MEETINGS-DON'T THEY? I think the campaign should start right here and right now! Come on guys lets see your support on this thread, and comments

Without a doubt those two should be at the forefront, who knows more about the subject than them? Not sure what usually happens as I'm not really the starched-shirt and monacle event kind of person and I've never been!

Not sure what usually happens as I'm not really the starched-shirt and monacle event kind of person and I've never been! ;D Thread hijack Well, how about an evening with the Marshals ? This is an invite out to all Drivers, team members and all readers of this forum Why not attend the marshals dinner dance in February 2010 This event is happening at the Lea Park hotel in Grangemouth and I can assure you there is no monacles or Starched shirts. there has even been known to be some shirts that have not been ironed let alone starched. If you are interested send me a PM and I will let EXOB know as he is organising the night. Some of you might be interested to know that we dont all wear orange all the time, we love to party and dance ( strictly eat your heart out when Dougie is on the floor) We also have a raffle with the proceeds going to a childrens charity that we all support. If you want to help donate to that too, please get in touch This is our end of season/ beginning of season event and was a fantastic night this year. Look forward to hearing from you all !!! and not seeing you in a gravel trap, or on the start finish grid ;-)

Helen and I hope to be there, Richard.... or were you meaning more illustrious names?!
Hope they can get DC this time! The unreal one that is..... ! The "real" one would be very welcome too!
Maybe DC and Eddie Jordan could compere the event?!

First of all - thanks for the kind remarks. Nice to know that you're listening. Loved the reference the the Rev Duncan Vincent.
As for compering the SMRC bash - I'd be up for it if the other half of the double act is.

It was great last night! I loved every minurte of it!
I think the Allan, Dario, DC and Paul di Resta little thing was funny.
Congratulations to all the prize winners. Roll on next season!

Quite agree, Richard. One of the best, we thought.
Helen was, and still is, totally gobsmacked at receiving her award and we are so indebted to the club and committee for thinking of her!
She even tried to recruit DC for marshalling now that he is out of racing! Claimed he had colour blindness and couldn't do the flags so I suggested track and pushing folk out of gravel trips but he deemed that "bloody dangerous"! Recruitment form on its way to Monaco..... haha!
