Haha - that's what I was about to say! Looking forward to getting up to Knockhill to see everyone. John and I have campaigned to get it on the national calendar for two years now so happy with the outcome. N.

My guesstimate would be that we'll qual and race on the saturday and the same again on Sunday. We have been gettign two qualifying sessions at the recent meetings but will depend on the programme. I presume our races will be either 15 or 20 minutes too (as against the new SMRC package deal). Will have to wait and see... N. www.nicksandersonracing.com

It looks like the SMRC have confirmed these dates.
2009 SMRC Calendar The Club is pleased to announce the following dates for the 2009 season. Away rounds for certain classes are still subject to confirmation and will be announced later.
Sunday 26th April - SMRC Race Meeting, Knockhill Sunday 31st May - SMRC Race Meeting, Knockhill Saturday and Sunday 13th & 14th June - British GT Meeting, Knockhill Sunday 28th June - SMRC Race Meeting, Knockhill Sunday 19th July - Scottish Speedfair, Knockhill Saturday and Sunday 15th & 16th August - BTCC, Knockhill Saturday and Sunday 5th & 6th September - SMRC Race Meeting, Knockhill Saturday 26th September - SMRC Race Meeting, Knockhill Sunday 18th October - SMRC Race Meeting, Knockhill
From looking on Knockhill's site the 5th & 6th September is when the British GT Cup is coming, not heard of this championship before, not to be confused with the British GT Championship.
Does anyone know though why the penultimate meeting is on a Saturday ? Cheaper track hire ?

From looking on Knockhill's site the 5th & 6th September is when the British GT Cup is coming, not heard of this championship before, not to be confused with the British GT Championship. Saw it on MotorsTV a few times last year - it's a Cup for cars like the Porsche GT3 Cup cars, Marcos Mantis, older Ferrari 360/430, Morgan etc - Tommy Dreelan, Colin Simpson, Bob Lyons and so on tended to appear in it. As for the Saturday SMRC meeting, I assume Knockhill and the SMRC couldn't agree on a Sunday for that time of year. Knockhill make their real money from the trackdays so I assume they come first. I'll probably miss most of that meeting as I have to work Saturday mornings.

Nick, am I missing something on the Fiesta Championship website? They've put their 2009 schedules up and it seems they are now racing at Brands on the day of the GTs at Knockhill: www.fordracinguk.com/calendar2008.html(The page link says 2008 but the page itself seems to be about 2009)

As one of the SMRC rounds have been dropped . does anybody know if the 5th & 6th of September could be a double header, or is that unlikely........

Mike, No, you are correct - we don't know what the score is as we can't get any response from our coordinator but our calendar has dramatically changed, including no Knockhill There are a lot of disappointed people with the Knockhill DH being removed from the Calendar. We now have two DH meeting at Brands and Snetterton... N. www.nicksandersonracing.com

Don't understand why you think that one of the SMRC rounds has been dropped. There are the same number of dates as 2008. That's 6 SMRC standalone dates plus the Speedfair Meeting. The Saturday in September is an attempt to see if Saturday Race Meetings are a runner. This was suggested by Knockhill and may run using the hairpin loop rather than the full circuit just to offer something different.

I hope you mean the double apex hairpin where the BTCC safety car parks as opposed to the tri oval, cant see it working as you are coming onto the straight at its steepest bit there. would certainly allow a lot more run off and even crazier than usual outbraking attempts

The hairpin loop! Can you imagine how many laps A Gallagher would do in 10 minutes. He'd get dizzy.

Everyone see the away dates in Wheelspin ?
Mini's at Kirkistown on 28th March XR2's and Saloons & Sportscars Croft 16/17th May Minis at Cadwell Park 14th June
Plus Legends & FF will be at BTCC rounds, both of them plus Saloons & Sportscars will be supporting the GT's in June. Pity the Fiesta's from England seem to have dropped that round.

They'd probably rather got to Spa or Romania or something daft the way the supposedly "British" F3 series does.
