What's the difference between the Minis that race up here and the Club Class ones which race down south?
How much would it cost to convert?

The differences include different suspension, a modified cylinder head and ECU and various others. I have a copy of the 07 regs which I'll send you by electronic letter device..
Given the Scottish Coopers use a standard engine but with an ECU mod that's essentially free issue then my guess would be that the Scottish Cooper is a cheaper deal.
However, despite this eagle eyed Andrew actually spotted that around Croft the Scottish Coopers are quicker.... ;D

I've heard from a wee bird, the Scottish mini's are quicker full stop. The Scottish mini's are also lighter than the English mini's.....

1075Kg for the Scottish Minis, 1130 for the Club Class..
So Scottish Minis min weight is 55Kg lower... That's not far off carrying a passenger !

1020KG for the ST's! oh... and they're quicker too!! true but the cars cost almost twice as much, tyres are 50% or more expensive and you have to go down to englandshire to race them. So they cant compete with scottish minis on relative budget terms.

I was suprised with how slow the mini is - even with a fast driver. If you mean when you were acting as ballast in the passenger seat on a petrol/oil/water soaked track day on his first time out in one then I'm not surprised it was slow !!!!!

Does that price tie you to competing in the Clio Cup though ?
As for the ST Vs. Mini thing. I am Ford born and bred so it's a no brainer for me..

Same here Blair - that's why I've already got my name on the list for the RS.
I'm currently in Houston and I was looking at a Mustang last night - now they look the business and don't cost that much to import....LHD though...
Back on topic, it looks like the minis should be good this year with Andrew playing out there...

Back on topic, it looks like the minis should be good this year with Andrew playing out there... Yeah it should be a good season, i think there are 15 drivers already confirmed and 4 maybes. With the extra prize money on offer this year and a better tv package it sounds like its goin to be the best mini season yet.

FFS - don't tell him that. That's tempting fate and I haven't bought any spare panels yet ;D
Anyway there's some other good ex XR2 drivers out there this year as well.. Scott Morrison for a start and there's a strong rumour that Colin McKinnon is joining the grid as well. They're both very competitive drivers and I'm pretty sure they'll do well.
Also heard a buzz that Jamie Clelland might be doing Minis this year although of course it's rumour season so ??
And lets not forget some of the existing Mini drivers aren't exactly slouches either.
I think it's going to be fun and the BTCC style grid thing is certainly going to add a bit of spice to most of meetings.
Personally though I'm going to miss the old XR2.. I wanted to keep it and mount it on a plinth in the front garden like those Spitfires you find outside RAF stations but the management overruled me ;D
