Aside from the Powertour, Rallycross, BSB and possible ASCAR visiting next season, does anyone know what else we'll likely see at Knockhill next season?
I know the Northern Saloons & Sportscars and the long circuit karts will probably come up as usual but I remember the days when we used to get loads of Alfas, Formula Honda, various saloon car championships and the like as well - just seems to have tailed off in the last couple of years.

it would be good if knockhill could find space for the old touring car series ( don't know what there called) historic touring cars? that would make good racing seeing all the old ford's and vauxhall's going round knockhill full chatt, plus some weird stuff like SDI rovers and the odd JAGs for a good mix. it would also make the TOCA guy's sit up and take notice. who do we speak too about this one ??

Would that reference be to Formula Saloons by any chance? Totally agree, super tourers back at the hill would be something, doubt they'd be able to afford the long haul though

Think Gary's refering to the Historic Touring Cars that used to support the BTCC many moons ago. (I remember one of them apparently went of backwards into a tyre wall in '97 and given the high levels of rain before the meeting an entire family was drenched in lovely slimy water. :puke: ) I'd love the Formula Saloons to visit... would easily make up for the BTCC especially seeing as they use real touring cars.

I've heard that the 2CV's are doing a 24 hour race again next year probably at Donington. However, if they are stepping up their race series, hopefully they may come back to Knockhill.
They may be slow but they are good to watch.

That'd be pretty cool - never seen them myself, but they sound pretty good, if there's a decent-sized field of them

After doing a little research on the net (as you do) i think i have some bad news for some guest series that come to Knockhill. the TBA dates that are on the knockhill wed site and the dates on other series wed sites tend to clash if i am reading them right. Ascar is the first one the only date they can come at present is the June dates 21/22, but they are racing the week after at the rock, so the chance of them coming to knockhill and leaving them one week to change setup's etc etc is very unlightly ( could be wrong)
and the other series is the national Legends the only date that they are free is the 19 of July. but they too are racing the week before(13th) at rockingham with the BTCC and the week after (27th) at anglesay so it makes it kind of hard on the driver's to do three in a row like this. so again i think this will not happen!!! (could be wrong again) i will speak to ali on this one and see if they are coming up to another race day??? ( but looking at there race dates highly unlightly to)
sorry for the bad news but someone needs too say it.

just checked it again and it's right as above . but i did notice that the national legends last race date is september and the SMRC"s last date is October so they may be planning to come up and play then. now that would be a good final race day for sure.

Ah... that'd be pretty cool  I take it the August 24th date isn't happening, though? I was under the impression the national legends would probably visit then, or has that been binned since?

here's an update from my last post. new provisional 2003 dates for knockhill, ( somebody has been reading and taking notes i think) as for the Ascars well Knockhill has them penciled in for the 21 22 of June with a large ?. ( as i reckon this is real iffy with Ascar racing at the rock the next weekend). now for the national Legends date! well speaking with Ali((legends hire) and Phil Cooper( Legends europe) this week, and Knockhill today they are all in agreement with one date. so it looks like the legends festival is on ;D the new date for this is the 31st of april/1st of may. this new date makes the month of may a very busy month for Knockhill. with the F3/GT on the 8th and the superbikes on the 17th/18th then stockcars midweek on the 21st then the international/brittish Rallycross on the 25th ( a must see for anyone, with 700 bhp saab's ford's and the odd vauxhall for good measure plus the normal stuff like 6R4 metro's and RS200's etc etc ) and then finally the last weekend of may is the BRSCC/SMRC legends festival well worth watching this has surely got to be the best month's racing knockhill has seen in years???. the list goes on the what is on so i will load it onto a new thread for all too see.

Just to throw a bit more confusion into the equation, apparently, the Croft SMRC date is now cancelled and the MINI's who were supposed to be doing two double header meetings at Croft has now been amended to only one - note, both the MINI croft dates were different to the SMRC date...
