Wayne's XR2 failed post race scruitineering so I'd imaging the results for both XR2 races will be amended.

I saw him dragging his gearbox out of the bay, so I can only assume that's why it failed.
Good weekend for me dedspite missing qualifying due to changing some bits and them not working on Saturday morning. Race one was interesting coming off the back of the grid, got a cracking start, passed a few cars before Duffus but looking in my inside mirror I saw the whole Charlie incident unfurling so pulled out of my move round the outside of everyone and took to the gravel in avoidance but nearly got collected by Greg as he finished his spin backwards into the trap at the apex of Leslie's. Start two was good and had a good fight passing a few cars. Ended the race behind Tony Leese with my car coughing away again.
Race two, made a poor start and Peter got himself up my inside at McIntyre's. Eventually found myself on the tail of...Tony Leese, owner of the widest XR2 I know. He drove well and despite being faster I found it impossible to pass him. That said, it was a very entertaining race for me being welded to his bumper for most of the run. Tried a dive down the inside of the hairpin on the last lap but it ended the same as every other move and I never got by. Ach well, we live to race another day. Good news is the perrenial misfire has been fixed....hurrah!
See you all at Cadwell.

Russell, nice to meet you in the gravel trap at the chicane though I guess you'd rather have not! Quite a spectacular looking incident from the banking but didn't look like too much damage for either of you??
A very busy weekend particularly on Saturday and particularly thanks to the magnetic attraction of the gravel traps to Ferraris!
Come to the Motorfair in 2 weeks and support Baz in his charity work! Helen and I and others will be up with a marshal recruitment stand.

What the video didn't show what happened to Charlie after he exited stage right Mike Booth!!!!!!!!! Arghhhhhhh!!!!!!! No wonder I had my crash, you always cause chaos when you point your camera at me. ;D Haven't seen you at K/hill in ages (No crashes) Now you're back I'll have to start being carefull again. ;D Many thanks to the marshals and medics who helped me out of the car of course (off course ) but please recovery crew, I know race control are giving you a hard time to get the car moved and the race restarted, look around the car and turn it back over onto its wheels on the damaged (or most damaged side). I'm afraid that you caused more damage to my car than the incident by rolling it on to its undamaged side as you righted it

Hey - its not so bad. He actually got off pretty lightly imho. Only roof, door and wing damage. Plus other door, window, door mirror, and other wing ... after the racing incident. (All still intact in Mike's photo's ... all damaged when car was righted by pushing it onto it's undamaged side )

Dagman - nice to meet you too. Although, as you say I would have rather have just waved to you at the end of the race!
Looks like a new wing and sills for me, hoping to just repair the door. I think Greg is much the same, with additional axle problems.
All in all, I think we were both lucky not to have had more damage, and maybe I'll make it on to TV.

A rather frustrating weekend - and a long one! Engine had a newly built head on it but we couldn't get it to run properly. In both races it was really labouring and was losing revs - by the end of the second race it could barely reach five thousand! Checked, stripped and changed various bits and pieces over the two days but couldn't spot what was causing the problem. Think we may have identified the problem about half six last night. Looks like it's over-fuelling, so we'll try another carb and see if it sorts the problem. A pity as I think I finally got my tyre pressures sorted.

Firstly... a big thanks to all of the fellow XR2 racers I finally met over the weekend.... Everyone was friendly and helpful and the advice and banter was good. In race 1 I got a pretty good start and sneaked up the inside of the blue car on my left. (I don't know who it was but it's in Russell's race 1 video). As I was turning into the corner, I caught from the corner of my eye another 2 cars and assumed that I'd get to the bottom of the hill before them too....... only to then see Charlie's car sideways in front of me. At the time I had no idea where he had come from, but the video clearly shows the build up. Anyway, as I tried to avoid hitting anything I became a passenger in my own spin and ended up heading backwards into the gravel. In fact as I was heading off the track backwards I saw Stevie Emslie heading straight at my drivers door and I have no idea how we didn't collide. As I stopped I then noticed Barry also parking backwards into the gravel next to me! How I got out of that one without touching another car I will never know! I got the car back out onto the track but could hear something dragging along the road under it. I thought it was maybe the front bumper that had been knocked off and had jammed under the car, and I was delighted when I spotted the red flags. I completed the lap and dived into the pits where the bold Wullie (my one man pit crew!) told me that the handbrake cables had been ripped out and were trailing under the car. He quickly shoved them up out of the way and I was directed by the pit marshals to start at the back of the grid. After the restart I had a race long battle with Stevie Elmslie and managed to finish a few places ahead of my starting point. All in all, for my very first race I was dead chuffed! In race 2 I got a fairly good start again and was feeling quite good about managing to keep my position for a wee while. I then got into a nice wee scrap with Steven Elmslie and Russell Morgan for a lap or two. Around that point the ST's started to come into play, and to be honest they kinda put me off my stride a bit. The end came I think on lap 5 or 6 when I was heading up to the chicane and just spotted an ST taking a lunge up the right hand side. I was 100% convinced we had then connected as the arse end of the car snapped left, but on looking at Russells video, I actually dropped my left rear off the tarmac and onto the grass, and that's what started my slide. Anyway, I managed to collect it quite quickly and was back on the power going through the top of the hairpin. There was a split second where I was about to get chuffed with myself for keeping it on track, then all hell broke loose. Basically I saw Russell flying at me from the right and then trying to drive up and over the front of my car!! It was like slow motion as I fist saw his wing, then his wheel, then I remember thinking "f**k me, I can see the exhaust". Anyway, thankfully he didn't roll at that point and we both ended up in the gravel. I'll need a wing, a driveshaft, some plastic bits and a bit of paint, but other than that it's not too bad. We had a wee chat later in the paddock although maybe we don't see things the same way, we shook hands and there's no hard feelings All in all an eventfull and very very enjoyable weekend!! I'd also like to say a huge thanks to all of the marshals.... not only for the kind words and assistance after the crash, but also for looking after my daughter Hayley who did her very first weekend of marshaling too. Cheers guys and girls ;D

Jeez Mike.... that one makes me look like the culprit, as I appear in shot sideays with no-one around me. Thank gawd Russells video shows why I was out of control!! I wouldny want to be seen as the "new guy" who's causing havoc ....... well not yet anyway!

Greg
Hayley was a pleasure to have on post!, she seemed to enjoy herself, had fun riding on the back of the recovery truck sitting in the wrecked Formula Ford and apparently fancied the pants of the Formula Ford Driver, so I was told!!! I hope she continues her marshalling, she will make a good addition to the team. :-)

Exob.... thanks for that & I'll pass your message onto Hayley. She did indeed enjoy herself and she was obviously made very welcome. It wasn't really the FF driver she fancied (although she said he was "cute in a nerdy kinda way"......... teenagers eh! She did however get all tongue tied and girly around Matt, one of the Century Motosport pit crew. Anyway, she'll most certainly be back for more..... cheers again.

Greg, I don't know how you weren't hit in the spin at Duffus!!
At least you and Russell popped by to see us at the chicane which was very kind.
I met Hayley at the training day and also at the weekend and she seemed really keen and also did well so a welcome addition to the satsuma family.
